If you find the challenge of resolving customer complaints is one that is thrilling, but you prefer to stay at home to work, you do not have to miss out on the career you were meant to have.  Many companies are outsourcing their customer service to those who work at home.  The company benefits, as they do not have to pay employee benefits.  For this reason, there are many work from home positions in customer service available today.

Before you jump at these work from home positions, you do need to realize what the positions involve.  First of all, you may be required to work a set of scheduled hours.  If you need to have a job with very flexible hours, this may not be the right one for you.  As the company will need to make certain that they have coverage for their busiest times, a schedule is a must.

You will also find that a career in customer service can be very stressful.  While the old saying states “the customer is always right”, there are times where you will find yourself not being able to give the customer what they expect.  Unfortunately, in these instances, you may find yourself dealing with difficult people and the stress can be high.  This job is perfect for those individuals who are able to calm down an upset customer, one that can be patient, and maintain a calm demeanor.

Working from home in customer service will also require you to have a very quiet space to work from.  Dogs barking in the background or children screaming can easily distract you and give the company a bad name.  Those individuals with smaller children at home while they work may need to hire a mother’s helper or still send their children off to daycare.

Work from home positions in the field of customer services requires one to have patience, organization, and the ability to work a set schedule.   While it can be tough to deal with difficult customers, you will find that the work can also be very rewarding.  If you are interested in this line of work, simply visit the various online job boards and start applying immediately.

How to Start a Home Repair Business

Anyone with good handyman skills has a great opportunity to start a home repair business for themselves.  The key is to keep your business to just you, as any employees would require you to obtain workman’s comp insurance.  When it is just yourself, you can keep the location of your business in your home and you won’t have to worry about a payroll system, as well.   In fact, when you start a home repair business, it could be one of the most exciting adventures for you.

The first thing you will need to do is decide when you start a home repair business is to determine where you skills lie and outline the list of expert services you can provide to your customers.  The skills you offer can then help you to determine the best name for your new business.  Keep it short and simple, but something that will grab the attention of anyone who sees it.

Before you do anything else, you should inquire with your state as to whether or not you will need to secure a professional license.  This, of course, depends on which state you live in and what type of work you are going to specialize in.  You will also want to contact you town to determine if a special business license is needed and you will also want to contact the IRS for a tax identification number for your business.

Along with special licenses, you will also want to investigate the possibility of obtaining insurance to cover any liabilities from the work you do.  Without insurance, you could easily set yourself up for many problems in the future.

Once you have all your licenses, you will then want to prepare a home office for yourself and prepare yourself to get started.  This will include purchasing business cards, a cell phone so that you can easily be contacted out on the road, and a computer and printer.  You should make sure you have some type of financial software to help you keep track of your finances.

The next step is to make yourself known.  Promoting your business can be exciting.  Contact local newspapers and place an ad in your local area for your services.  Make sure you are prepared by having a list of the services you provide, as well as your rates for these services.

Set up a website for your business and plan out your Internet marketing strategy.  Whatever you do, do not forget to contact all of the local real estate agents in your area.  These are the individuals that secure a lot of work for you.

While the steps to start your own home repair business may seem tedious, your own business will allow you freedoms that traditional employment simply can not offer.  Once you get started and the work starts rolling in, you may just wish that you had started your own business a lot sooner.

How to Start a Home Craft Business

If you enjoy spending your free time making crafts and have a wide variety of skills, such as knitting, crocheting, sewing, or even painting, you may be looking into different ways you could make money from your crafts.  The truth is, if you base a business on your passion, you will succeed.  The following is some information on how to start a home craft business that will help you to get your own started:

The first item on your agenda to start a home craft business is to evaluate the products that you currently make.  The products you offer to your customers must be well-constructed, meaning they are not going to fall apart immediately upon using them.  Look at each one to make sure it is the best it could be and then decide which products you would like to continue making to sell.  Keep in mind, you must also take into consideration how long it takes you to make each one.

You must then determine how you plan to sell your products.  You will have many options.  First, are local events, such as flea markets or craft fairs.  You could also choose to sell your products in online auctions.  If the auctions are not your cup of tea, you could also create your own website and list your products for sale on your site.

Before you take another step, you should immediately contact your state and town.  They will let you know whether you will need any special permits or licenses in your area.  If you are selling products in a state that imposes a tax on sales, you may be required to obtain a sales tax id number and keep track of these charges and send them in quarterly.  You may also want to consult with a tax professional at this time.

Once you have determined how you are going to sell your products, get your inventory ready.  Spend some time stocking up on the items you will be selling, as you want to be prepared in case you receive more orders than you expect.  After you have your inventory set, you can then start marketing your products or sign up for some craft fairs, depending on which method you chose to sell them.

One of the best ways to make a business succeed is to base your business around something you love.  If you start a home craft business because you love doing crafts and are good at what you do, the only way you are going to fail is if you don’t take the time to market your products.

If you are one of the individuals who is jumping on the bandwagon to get our own business started, you will find it fun, exciting, and, more than likely, a little overwhelming.  There is a lot involved in a home business start up.  The following are some tips to make sure yours gets off to a successful start:

Create a business plan and your home business start up will go much smoother. It will give you instructions on taking your business from start up into the first year and will help you to set goals for your business.

Don’t jump into any opportunity.  Make certain that you really do want this type of business, instead of wasting your time on something you won’t enjoy doing.  This is a mistake that many people make and it simply leads to a failing business.

Research what is involved before you get started. Unexpected situations that occur can easily lead to your downfall.

Learn about your target market.  Who are the people that will benefit from what you are selling?  What is the best way to reach them?  If you don’t know who should buy your products, you will find it very difficult to sell anything.

Take some online marketing classes.  This will give you the knowledge you need to get your business and products noticed.  You don’t need a degree in marketing to be successful, but you do have to have the willingness to learn.

Learn to be patient.  Even if your home business start up goes smoothly, it is going to take a lot of time for your business to be at a point that it can be considered a success.

Get organized and make certain that you are keeping concise financial records on your business.  If not, you may find that tax time is a little overwhelming.

Are you finding yourself frustrated with your internet business? Maybe it is time to step back a minute and take a good look at what may be missing. Sometime it can be the whole business itself or just some minor tuning that needs to take place. Either way it is important to take a breather and look at it with a pair of fresh and rested eyes.

If you feel it is the whole business, it might be that you do not enjoy or feel comfortable with the particular niche that you have chosen.  If your do not like the niche you are in, it can be very hard for you to put the passion into it that is needed to be successful. This does not mean that it is impossible, but if you do not like what you are doing, it stands to reason why you would be frustrated. Get out of there and deal with a niche you know and enjoy or want to learn more about.

Now let’s say it is not the niche, but how you are doing or the lack of marketing yourself, product or services.  If this is the case, believe it or not, this is a little easier than starting all over again, but I need transition that must be made.

You would not believe how many people feel that all you have to do is put a website or blog online and presto, you are off to the races. Well, that is just not the case. Internet Marketing is not just something that is picked up over night, there is actually and art to this. It takes some study, education and action to put the right kind of marketing plan into place, but again, not impossible.

I will be talking about marketing techniques as time goes by, but remember this is a must and very crucial to the success of any business.

The Best Places to Find Telecommuting Jobs

Tired of rushing to a job only to feel underpaid and underappreciated?  If so, you may want to consider going out on your own.  Many people are taking it upon themselves to freelance.  Whether you have writing skills or typing skills, you will find that many businesses are offering telecommuting jobs, in the hopes to save money themselves.  But where do you find these types of jobs?

One of the first places to look for telecommuting jobs are in the online job boards.  The majority of businesses who outsource their work place ads in these sites everyday.  Be sure to have your resume prepared, as many of them will allow and encourage at home workers to upload a resume to the site.  This will allow them to see your experiences and skill and will hopefully encourage them to contact you directly.

Telecommuting jobs can also be found in many of the work at home forums.  Truthfully, if you are a business owner and need to hire someone to work from home, where are you going to go?  This method takes the business owner directly to the source.  The forums are filled with members who, just like you, want more money and are happy to take on new jobs.

If the above two methods do not seem to be working for you, don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.  Create a letter of introduction and mail it to several large businesses in your area and others you find online.  Let them know the services you can provide to them.  The truth is, the business you contact may never have thought of outsourcing their work and may be happy to give you a chance.  Once they discover it can save them money, you may find yourself with fulltime work.

These are just a few of the ways that you can find jobs that will allow you to telecommute.  Whether you are hired to do data entry from home or answer customer service calls over your computer, you will find that the benefits you get from working out of your home are many and you’ll never want to work in the traditional job setting again.

Just wanted to share that I have just made my first video today and posted. To be truthful, I knew that one of the biggest marketing platforms that will generate huge amounts of traffic to your site or products is video marketing.  But a lot of people have a big challenge with getting this type of marketing going, which included me.

The reason for this with most people would be a number of things, to include, wanting everything to be perfect in order to even make your first video. But believe it or not, it is just like most things out there, you must get your feet wet first. Which can really stop a lot of us, depending on our mindset? But it is important to note that, you are missing out on so much traffic if you let it stop you from taking advantage on such a huge marketing source.

You can begin this process with very little equipment, such as a laptop, webcam, small camera, even your cell phone.  It is very important to get yourself and/ or your offers out there so that the huge amounts of people all over the world that watch videos see what you have.

More later!

Are you wanting or trying to start an internet business without a plan of attack?

Do you have an internet business now and do not have a plan in place?

If you fit into any of these two categories above, I urge you to reconsider how you are going about your business. One of the most important steps, if not one of the most powerful parts of starting and building a business, is to have a plan, especially if you are looking to be successful.

Let me paint a picture for you of starting or building a business without a plan in place. Have you ever seen a gerbil or hamster in a cage running in circles on the wheel within the cage, or have you watched a dog chasing, or trying to catch their tale? I don’t believe in either one of these scenarios, anything is really accomplished. Without a plan you could be just running after something that you may never reach or catch.

This is what can happen to you when there is no plan in place. There is no direction to follow, no starting point, no middle ground, no map to your long term goals that you most likely want to reach while building your internet business.

Here is the good news, making a plan is not hard as some may think. Also it will guide you in a way that, you can stay on track, which means, it can also keep you organized at the same time.

Now some people have a professional plan made for them, which can run you in to some money. But a plan can also be just for you and your business needs, which means it does not have to be anything more than you putting it on a piece of paper or a tablet. You can even make it on notepad or a word document and save it to your computer. The main thing is to get it done.

Some of the areas to bring into focus that you want to plan for:

1. Type of Business

2. Start-up Capital

3. Marketing cost and techniques

4. Training/Education

5. Your Goals/Timelines to Achieve

6. Target Market

7. Supplies needed

This is just to name a few, but do not let this make you get stuck trying to make this perfect. Again, do a little thinking, research, networking and the plan will start to take form, you just need to write it down and start to follow and adjust along the way. You will find this very valuable to your success with your internet business.
